All three regiments mentioned in this song no longer exist as individual regiments. The HLI was amalgamated with the Royal Scots Fusiliers to form the Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret's Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment); the Seaforth Highlanders were amalgamated with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, and later, in the mid-late 90's, with the Gordon Highlanders to form a regiment known simply as The Highlanders.
