78 St Vincent

Description:
78 is an established award winning city centre restaurant. Its elegant warm atmosphere makes it the kind of place you don't want to leave, made even harder by the comfortable, secluded lounge area. Keeping it simple is the motto when it comes to the food - chef uses the very best Scottish produce, treats it with care to extract its fullest flavour and presents it with flair and style. Lunch is a bustling affair appealing to business colleagues, couples and people who just want to relax whilst enjoying good food and good company. Dinner is a more relaxed affair where attentive but unobtrusive staff will cater for your every need.

Indicative menu: Spicy Haggis, Neeps and Tatties with a rich star anise scented jus, Italian rocket salad and a fresh raspberry vinaigrette, Rolled Sea Bream stuffed with wild mushrooms served with tarragon dressed new potatoes and roast pepper salad, White Chocolate Mousse with fresh raspberries and a gingerbread biscuit.

Prices per person: Breakfast £2.50-£7.95 A La Carte Lunch £6.75-£20 Pre-Theatre £12.40 (2 courses) Dinner £11.50-£31.95.

Seats: 100 - the restaurant also has 2 unique and stylish private dining rooms catering for 12 and 16 respectively.

Pros: Lovely surroundings
Cons: The price of a pint was pricey

Hubby and I went here for our lunch a few Sundays ago.Staff were friendly and very knowledgable.Surroundings were lovely.Food was nicely served. My soup was nothing special nor was the bread served with it. Hubbys haggis, neeps and tatties were nicely served. He was a bit surprised that his draught lager was £3.70,guess that is the price you pay to be in nice surroundings. The wine and champagne list looked very extensive and impressive especially that bottle I seen for £125!!!
